Sept. 14 Connaught Updates

Breakfast  

Breakfast program started today for students who signed up. If your child does not eat before coming to school and you would like your child to have breakfast at school (7:50-8:00) then please complete Connaught Breakfast Porgram – Fill out form. 

School Drop off and Pick up 

Student safety during drop‑off and pick‑up times is a shared responsibility, and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation. Families are reminded: 

  • DO NOT use the staff parking lot for dropping off or picking up students 
  • DO NOT stop/park/block the driveways of people living on 13th Ave 
  • DO follow all City of Calgary parking signage, including posted time limits and no‑stopping zones.  
  • DO leave the designated bus zone clear for busses at all times 
  • Do use corners and marked crosswalks to model safe practices.  
  • Do walk, bike, or cycle to school when possible, helping reduce traffic congestion and supporting a safe, active school community. 

School ends at 2:30 (Monday – Thursday) and 12:00 on Friday.  School staff does not provide supervision after school.  Please be on time to pick up your child. Students who are given permission by their parents to walk home alone after school must go home and check in with an adult before going to play.   

Casino Fundraiser - Volunteers Needed! 

We have a casino fundraiser October 22-23 that requires several volunteers. These fundraisers usually raise $75,000 - $85,000 that is used for things like educational equipment, funding field trips, and bringing additional learning activities to the school. 
At this point, we are looking to collect contact information from as many volunteers as possible. Any adult can sign up, so if you have a friend or family member willing to help out, please encourage them to volunteer as well. Please email the members of our school's fundraising organization, Friends of Connaught, at tmdgreer@gmail.com (Matt) and dlebary@gmail.com (Daorcey). 
All roles have on the spot training from our paid Cage Advisors (they work for us!) If you can follow basic step-by-step instructions, you can do ANY position. They will help you each and every time until you feel comfortable. These roles are genuinely easy, and a fun way to get to know people associated with our school.  

Cowboys Casino has free underground parking. Alternatively, we will reimburse any required taxi fares for volunteers. All volunteers receive complimentary snacks and non-alcoholic drinks and a meal from the casino designated restaurant.
