History of Connaught School
Connaught School is one of the original sandstone buildings in Calgary. Construction of the school was completed in 1911 at a cost of $98,000 plus $18,000 for plumbing and heating. In 1920, four new classrooms were added to the auditorium that was located on the third floor. Junior High, which included Grades 7, 8 & 9, began in the mid 1930s. More space was needed for physical education so a new gymnasium was added in July 1952.
In June, 2007 Connaught students and staff were relocated to Kingsland School while our downtown location was renovated. The revitalized Connaught School opened for students in August 2009. The renovation and addition of the atrium and full size gymnasium were completed in 2009 at the cost of $18 million.

School Development Plan
Each year, our school prepares a development plan with input from teachers, school staff, students and parents. We review many sources of data, including report cards, provincial achievement test results and school surveys. Based on this information, we create our plan identifying targeted areas for growth. Our school development plan is not meant to represent all of the work that takes place in our school, but rather it focuses on specific areas for improvement.

Our school also prepares a results plan, which looks at our previous school year. It shows our students’ achievement and progress in meeting the goals and outcomes as set out by the CBE and Alberta Education, outlines some of the highlights of our school development plan and gives an overview of our school.
