Parking Lot
Please do not drop-off or pick up students in the staff parking lot or in the Bus zone. Parking is very limited around Connaught School. Please follow the City of Calgary parking signs. Cars left in the parking lot without CBE identification will be ticketed. Volunteers will be given temporary parking permits if space is available.
School Drop off and Pick up
Student safety during drop‑off and pick‑up times is a shared responsibility, and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation. Families are reminded:
- DO NOT use the staff parking lot for dropping off or picking up students
- DO NOT stop/park/block the driveways of people living on 13th Ave
- DO follow all City of Calgary parking signage, including posted time limits and no‑stopping zones.
- DO leave the designated bus zone clear for busses at all times
- Do use corners and marked crosswalks to model safe practices.
- Do walk, bike, or cycle to school when possible, helping reduce traffic congestion and supporting a safe, active school community.
School ends at 2:30 (Monday – Thursday) and 12:00 on Friday. School staff does not provide supervision after school. Please be on time to pick up your child. Students who are given permission by their parents to walk home alone after school must go home and check in with an adult before going to play.
Traffic Safety
Ensuring our students get to school safely is everyone’s responsibility. Please be mindful of crosswalks, parking rules and speed limits when you are near our schools, especially during the morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal times.
Traffic Safety Reminders from The City of Calgary
The City wants to remind and encourage anyone who is driving children to school to operate their vehicles safely and responsibly. Parents and guardians are reminded not to park where it’s prohibited during drop off and pick up times, such as blocking crosswalks, laneways and private driveways.
Pick up and drop off times can get quite busy. Give yourself extra time to navigate safely around schools, whether you are walking, wheeling, or driving. For those who drive, help alleviate congestion by parking a block or two away and walking in, wherever possible.
Talk to your kids about safe travel practices like using crosswalks with patrols, looking all ways before crossing the street and not jaywalking across the roadways as a shortcut.
