The EcoClub is proud to announce our latest environmentally friendly action! We received a grant from the City of Calgary to purchase reusable soup spoons. 

Our students receive soup for lunch every Tuesday and Thursday. Last year we switched our soup bowls from Styrofoam to compostable cardboard, but we are still using plastic soup spoons. 

Last week we picked up our brand new engraved soup spoons! Each spoon says “Property of Connaught” on its handle, and can be washed every day and re-used. This will cut our single-use plastic waste by A LOT! We will begin using the spoons next week. Members of our EcoClub will collect dirty spoons after soup days, sanitize them in the dishwasher, and return them to our soup serving volunteers to hand out again the following week.

 Ask your child if they have had a chance to use the new soup spoons yet! And if a “Property of Connaught” spoon ends up in your child’s lunch box, please return it to school the next day.
