Carolyn Fisher – Author Illustrator
A huge thank you to Ms. A, our library assistant, for organizing a visit by an award-winning author and illustrator. Carlolyn Fisher spent the morning, October 10, at our school sharing her talent with Connaught staff and students. Carolyn shared her journey to becoming an artist and how she uses her sketchbook to collect ideas for future stories. She taught us about “drawing in draft” where she layered her drawings by using different colours as she refined her drawing. She taught us about creating a storyboard to plan out her stories. Carolyn described how sometimes she had to try and try again to get her stories published. With great perseverance she was able to try and try again to get her story, A Twisted Tale turned into a book! She left us feeling inspired to write stories of our own.
We would like to thank the Young Alberta Book Society for paying for Carolyn to visit us.
