Field Remediation
We are excited to share an update on the field remediation project, which is underway now and will continue through September. This important work includes removing debris, levelling the field, installing an irrigation and sprinkler system, and hydroseeding to re‑establish a safe, healthy grass playing surface. In addition, asphalt will be installed in front of the modular classrooms, with the potential for seating such as picnic tables, and a new gate will be added to the far west fence to improve access. To ensure the success of this project, it is essential that everyone respects the fencing and stays off the field until September, including during evenings and weekends. Your cooperation will help make this project possible and allow us to reopen the field as a safe, high‑quality space for students and the school community.
Drop‑Off and Pick‑Up Safety Reminder
Student safety during drop‑off and pick‑up times is a shared responsibility, and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation. Families are reminded not to use the staff parking lot for dropping off or picking up students and to follow all City of Calgary parking signage, including posted time limits and no‑stopping zones. Please remain aware of the designated bus zone and keep it clear at all times. When crossing the street, we encourage families and students to use corners and marked crosswalks to model safe practices. With the return of warmer weather, we also encourage families to walk, bike, or cycle to school when possible, helping reduce traffic congestion and supporting a safe, active school community.
Active Transportation Reminder
With the return of improved weather, we are pleased to see more students biking or scootering to school. This is a great way to stay active and enjoy the outdoors. For safety, students are reminded to wear helmets and to lock up their bikes when they arrive at school. If a scooter cannot be securely locked, students may bring it into the classroom to help prevent theft. Thank you for supporting safe and responsible active transportation.
No Toys at School Reminder
We would like to remind families of our school rule that toys are not to be brought to school and should be left at home. Students are provided with all the tools and materials they need for learning during the school day. Toys can be distracting, may lead to loss or damage, and can sometimes cause disagreements between students, taking time away from learning. Thank you for your continued support in helping keep our learning environment focused and positive.
Monthly Bottle Drive
Friends of Connaught (the fundraising organization for Connaught School) and the school's administration hold a bottle drive the first Thursday of every month. Our bottle drive fundraiser is this Thursday, May 7, 2026. The money raised will go toward improving student experience at our school.
Please bring clean and dry refundable drink containers to school. Here is a link to accepted containers. Friends of Connaught volunteers will be at the recycling bin near the east entrance of the school from 7:50 - 8:10 AM to collect your recyclables.
